This artist's book juxtaposes a joy-filled wedding photo on the right-hand sides of each accordion fold with a self-portrait taken in early widowhood on the left-hand sides of each fold. Viewed from the right, one sees the happy couple. Viewed from the opposite end though, the image of grief is revealed.
When fully opened, the two images align in an uncanny way: the bride's profile and neckline are similar in each image and her hands meet as if across time - a reminder that we don't get to have a great love without also experiencing great loss.
